AN EVENING WITH JENNIFER TILLY, FEATURING BULLETS OVER BROADWAY
- Cost: $20
- Where: Enzian Theater
- When: Friday, April 4, 7:15 - 10:00 PM at Enzian
- What:
Nominated for seven Academy Awards--including Best Supporting Actress for both Jennifer Tilly and Dianne Wiest, Best Supporting Actor for Chazz Palminteri, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay--Bullets Over Broadway is set in 1920s New York City and is one of Woody's brightest and funniest works. The great writer-director blends his own comic sensibilities with a touch of Damon Runyon to tell the Prohibition-era tale of a political idealist and neurotic playwright (John Cusack) desperate to get his play on Broadway. His only source of funding is a mobster who insists that his moll (a perfectly cast Tilly) star in the show. Pride tossed aside, the struggling writer begins rehearsals only to find his leading lady accompanied by an irritating and opinionated bodyguard (Palminteri). The rest of the oddball company is rounded out by a fading stage legend (Wiest) with an alcohol problem and an overeating leading man (Jim Broadbent). Allen's roaring comedy also features Harvey Fierstein, Mary-Louise Parker, Rob Reiner, and Tracey Ullman in its amazing ensemble cast, and this sharp-edged, hilariously revealing farce of gangsters and showgirls is one of his best.
Following the film, Jennifer Tilly will be present for a Q&A, moderated by Don Mancini, director of Seed of Chucky and screenwriter for the Chucky series. - Tickets: Purchase Now
